Information
Technology means the creation, gathering , processing,
storage , presentation and dissemination of
information , and also the process and devices that
enable us to be done. IT stands firmly of the hardware
and software and telecommunication infrastructure.
Therefore to accomplish this huge task , The
Government of Pakistan has created a new department of
Information Technology at provincial and district
government level under the devolution plan with effect
from 14-01-2001. The functions of the department are
summarized below. |

1). Information Technology
Development.

E-Government Establishment.
Activities & Achievements
»
Amended PC-I prepared
in the light of instructions of the Secretary IT Department,
Govt. of the Punjab has been submitted to the District
Development Committee Bahawalpur and approved for
establishing of E. Govt. .Bahawalpur, whereby each District
Office will be provided one Computer and a Control
Room will be established in the office of the EDO(IT)
by providing one Computer Set for each group of office(EDO
Office). The day-to-day progress of each department
will be collected in the Control Room and will be
connected with the Provincial Control Room through
satellite and thus E. Government will be established
upto the year 2004.

Activities & Achievements
»
The Secretary Govt. of the Punjab, IT Department has
arranged Basic IT
Computer Training Courses at different venues whereby
District Govt, functionaries are
being trained. 320 personnel of District Government
Bahawalpur have been imparted training on Basic IT at
Computer Science Department, Islamia University, Bahawalpur,
Another 5th phase of training course with the participation
of 80 Govt. employees commenced w.e.f. 1.4.2003(Group-I)
and 5.4.2003(Group-II) has been completed and this exercise
will be continued till sufficient number of personnel
are trained in computer operations to run the E. Government
in befitting manner.

District Profile Bahawalpur.
Activities & Achievements
»
1). The District
Profile has been prepared and Basic Data of the District
Government is ready for placement in the Web Site.
2).
All application forms developed and being used by
the departments will be made available in the Web
Site.
